***Jonathan News 4***

As you may know from ***Jonathan News 3*** Jonathan had the SPML procedure this week and it went slightly different than expected. We had a 4 hour drive the evening before and spent the night there prior to the surgery.

Nerves were high for Jonathan and all he could think about was how the surgery could happen. “Woulda-coulda” phrases and questions were the main topics of conversation. All I could tell him were the reassuring words that everything would be ok, and that we would be waiting here for him when he came out.

Waiting before safety checks and anesthesia

They ran last minute tests prior to beginning anesthesia, and we had abnormal results come back (well outside of the normally abnormal levels). They had to cancel the anesthesia and decided on an epidural. I was not happy with that, but it was the only option that would prevent a worsening scenario. I signed papers and off they went for 2 hours.

Just rolled in.

In returning, he rolled in with casts up to his knees and full leg splint/braces almost up to his hips. We stayed an extra night since it would be awhile till the epidural burned off, and he’d be more comfortable instead of driving back. He had plenty of medicine but his (OUR) 1st night sleeping was horrible. We woke up every hour or two to adjust him and give him medicine.

This is now our 3rd day since the surgery and he is SO MUCH better. He is not in as much pain, but is still uncomfortable sleeping. As of now everything is going well. I just want to say….

THANK YOU everyone for your ongoing prayers for healing and comfort. Please continue to pray for strength that we maintain this progress, and of course how ever God leads you to pray!
